concert at the park

Inaugurated on May 18, 1990, this environmental gallery – Kanlungan ng Sining or “Artists’ Haven” is the first of its kind in Southeast Asia, according to sculptor Eduardo Castrillo.

The Kanlungan ng Sining became the venue and common workplace of exhibits belonging to diverse disciplines. It is home to the Arts Association of the Philippines which holds monthly exhibits throughout the year. Kanlungan ng Sining is dedicated to the Filipino artists and to every Filipino who is an artist at heart.

Through these visual exhibits, art is brought closer to the Filipino masses, who became not only viewers but even participants in these events.

Some of the major exhibits in 2003 are as follows:
“ALAY KAY RIZAL”; “PISTANG SINING” (in celebration of the National Arts Month); “SA MATATAG NA REPUBLIKA: BAYAN KO, SAGOT KO!” (in commemoration of the 106th Anniversary of Philippine Independence); and “MANGGAGAWANG PINOY PARA SA TURISMO” (in observance of National Tourism Week).

The Visual Arts Exhibit at Kanlungan ng Sining is a project of the National Parks Development Committee in cooperation with the Arts Association of the Philippines (AAP).

The Kanlungan ng Sining is open daily. The art gallery is open for public viewing from Tuesday to Sunday, 10:00 am – 5:00 p.m.
