PRESTIGE CLARINET ENSEMBLE
OPENS THE 2ND CONCERT SEASON

Paco Park Presents opens its 2nd Concert Season, this Friday, September 3, 2010, 6:00 p.m., at historic Paco Park in San Marcelino, Manila, with no less than six talented young men led by PPO principal clarinetist Ariel Sta. Ana, collectively known as the Prestige Clarinet Ensemble.

Paco Park Presents is a regular public service project of the National Parks Development Committee, under Acting Executive Director Salome T. Habal, and the National Broadcasting Network. Mr. Freddie A. Edos is the Executive In Charge of the concert project. Gie V. Arnold writes the script.

The Prestige Clarinet Ensemble was formed with the Clarinet Players Society of the Phils., Inc. under the guidance of Prof. Ariel Sta. Ana of the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra (PPO).  The love of playing chamber music and friendship united the group. The group’s first performance was at the UST Conservatory of Music in August 17, 2010. The ensemble mostly plays original compositions and arrangements ranging from Bach to Piazzolla.  Members who will be playing on Friday are Ricardo Mojica, Jayson Rivera, Michael Rex Bacarra, Leif Garret Concepcion, Felicito Sacdalan and Ariel Sta. Ana.

For their concert on Friday, the ensemble has prepared the following program: POET & PEASANT OVERTURE (F. von Suppé); FUGUE IN G MINOR (Bach); VOCALISE OP 34 (Rachnmaninoff); PIAZZOLLA, PIAZZOLLA, PIAZZOLLA! (Piazzolla); CAPRICE & BAGATELL (Grundman); TWO RAGTIME PIECES (Joplin); ESTAMPAS CRIOLLAS (Lockhart); and  BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY (F. Mercury).
