The CINEMA-IN-THE-OPEN-AIR aims to entertain and educate park habitues through the medium of film (documentary and full-length movies). These film screenings (Saturdays and Sundays) are also presented in cooperation with the National Historical Institute (NHI) and the Cultural Center of the Philippines. Started in April 1982, Cinema-in-the-Open-Air has been presenting mostly award-winning films and films by renowned directors such as: "Jesus of Nazareth" by Franco Zeffirelli; "Sisa" by Gerry de Leon; "Lapu-lapu" (Battle of Mactan) by Lamberto Avellana; "Life on Earht" series by David Attenborough; "Short Films" by outstanding Filipino directors like Raymond Red; "Seven Samurai" by Akira Kurosawa; "Rashomon" by Akira Kurosawa; "Romance in Philately", (Chinese Film), 1988 2nd Prize Winner for Outstanding Feature Film; "The Gold Rush", "The Circus", "The City Lights", "Modern Times", "Films on Environment", and the "The Dresser" by Peter Yates; "Sister Stella L" by Mike de Leon; "Hinugot sa Langit" by Ishmael Bernal; "Four Greatest Religions" and others. The Cinema-in-the-Open-Air is held on a seasonal basis. Venue is the Rizal Park Open-Air Auditorium. |
