concert at the park

Ballet has been part of the cultural fare at the Rizal Park in the past. The likes of Edna Vida, Vella Damian, Alice Villadolid, the young Lisa Macuja and other outstanding Filipino prima ballerinas and danseurs who have made good abroad, shared their outstanding talents with the Filipino masses here at the park. But due to budgetary constraints, BALLET AT THE PARK became just a part of the Park’s history.

In 1996, BALLET AT THE PARK, was reborn though NPDC’s collaboration wit the only touring classical ballet company in the country today – Ballet Manila, with principal danseur Osias Barroso and principal ballerina Lisa Macuja-Elizalde, under the artistic direction of Eric V. Cruz. Now on its 8th year, BALLET AT THE PARK, a cultural project of the NPDC and Ballet Manila, aims to make ballet performances of “world class quality” a regular fare to the masses who ordinarily will not be able to afford to see it in places such as the CCP and other expensive venues due to high price of tickets for such performances.

Ballet at the Park is presented by the National Parks Development Committee (NPDC), in cooperation with Ballet Manila every Saturday 5:00 p.m.at the Rizal Park Open-Air Auditorium, Manila on seasonal basis.
